Mayor De Santis on the death of Massimo Tedeschi

The Mayor of Montefiascone Giulia De Santis entrusts us with her personal memory of Massimo Tedeschi, founder and president of the European Association of the Vie Francigena who passed away a few days ago. “Despite knowing the seriousness of his illness, his passing is for us, as for all the Friends of the Via Francigena, an unbridgeable loss. Maximus is sserved as President of the AEVF with great passion and ability to bring together the different sensitivities of the Nations of the AEVF and also and above all of the small communities that dot the route of the Via Francigena. There were countless events with the presence of Massimo, which the City of Montefiascone remembers with gratitude and affection the transformation from the AIVF into the AEVF which took place in our city in a memorable 2005 Assembly in the Rocca dei Papi. On that occasion Massimo said that we were the Maastricht of the Via Francigena. We had the honor of being alongside him as Vice Presidents of the Association. One of my first outings as Mayor was with him, in that Assembly of the Vie Francigene in Canterbury; a beautiful experience that I will always carry in my heart. We are certain that his closest collaborators, his lifelong friend Francesco Ferrari, Luca, Sami and Micol, will continue his tireless work. The Municipal Administration and the entire community of Montefiascone warmly embraces their children Marco and Elisa”.
