Fincantieri, president Claudio Graziano dies
According to the information gathered so far, Claudio Graziano was found dead at the age of 70 in his home, located in the historic center of Rome.
The news of his disappearance was confirmed by Fincantieriof which Graziano was president from 2022. Through a note, the company announced that “expresses immense pain at the sudden passing of General Claudio Graziano, President of the Group, which leaves a large and unfillable void”.

Initial findings revealed no signs of illness. So stay the possibility that it was suicide is open. In April 2023, Graziano had lost his wife, Marisa Lanucarawho died at the age of 65.

The academic path
Born in Turin in 1953, Claudio Graziano he began his military career at the Moden Academya, where he remained from 1972 to 1974. After completing this first journey he moved on to the Application School of Turin, obtaining a degree in Military Strategic Sciences in 1976.
During his formative years he expanded his academic background with a degree in Diplomatic and International Sciences from the University of Trieste, a Master’s degree in Strategic Sciences and a specialization in Human Sciences from the Augustinian Academy of Rome.
Appointed Infantry Officer in 1974, he held various command roles in Alpine units until 1986, when his career began in the Army General Staff.
From command in Mozambique to presidency of Fincantieri
Promoted Lieutenant Colonel in 1990, Claudio Graziano he led the “Susa” alpine battalion during one UN mission in Mozambiqueensuring the security of the Beira corridor and supporting humanitarian aid.
After further important assignments, including the command of the 2nd Alpine Regiment of the “Taurinense” Brigade and the role of Military Attache at the Italian Embassy in Washingtonreached the rank of Brigadier General in 2002.
He commanded the Multinational Brigade in Kabul and, since 2007, it has been Force Commander of the UNIFIL mission in Lebanon. Promoted to General of the Army Corps in 2010, he then held the role of Chief of Defense Staff from 2015 to 2018.
The appointment as President of the Board of Directors of Fincantieri arrives in May 2022while a few months later he assumed the presidency of Assonave (National Association of the shipbuilding industry).
