The Alpine A290, the ‘bad’ sister of the Renault 5, was revealed just a few days ago, all electric and with a maximum power of 220 horsepower. This is only the latest green hot hatch launched on the market, a segment that is expanding from a niche to more and more with the spread of battery-powered cars.
The Lancia Ypsilon HF 2025 was recently unveiled with 240 horsepower under the bonnet, while the Fiat Abarth 600e. Furthermore, it was also announced theAlfa Romeo Junior Velocethe sportier version of the B-SUV from Arese which caused so much controversy due to the name change.
The question arises spontaneously, how much they cost or how much they will cost these 4 battery-operated pearls? Lots of horsepower but also prices that aren’t exactly cheap, as it should be, given that power has always been synonymous with expense. Let’s start from Renault Alpine A290 which will have an attack price from 38 thousand euros in the 180 HP version, which should then become more than 40 thousand in the 220 one. As for the Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce, in France it will cost 46,900 euros consequently in Italy it should not differ much from that figure.
All is silent for the moment however for the Ypsilon HF and the 600e Abarth but even in this case we should overcome the 40 thousand euros no problems, most likely around 42/43. Figures that could obviously scare some, but it should not be forgotten that the three “Italian” have a power of 240 horsepower which is no small feat for B-segment cars or B-SUVs.
The issue also has a great impact electric, taking into account that a green car, especially in the first segments, still has a higher price than the average for the category. How much would the same version with the combustion engine cost? Probably ten thousand euros less, maybe 7 or 8, but obviously it wouldn’t give the same emotions in terms of acceleration and starting power.
It must be said for the sake of correctness of information that up to now the only electric experiment of this type has been the Fiat 500e Abarth which sold less than the Ferrari Roma, consequently we cannot speak of a success (far from it), but who knows? consumer intentions have not changed in the last year and in the end the four bad things mentioned above fail to convince even the most sceptical.
