the new mural in Milan that unites left and right

Milan – Far, far away in life. Two antithetical thoughts on politics and, above all, on the “moral question”. Yet that death which occurred within a day of each other somehow brought them together Silvio Berlusconi and Enrico Berlinguer. An image that is not only metaphorical, but blunt in a mural in Milan by AleXandro Palombostreet artist famous for his works of a social and political nature.

The mural is titled “Together” and portrays the Knight – whose anti-communist rhetoric pervaded his entire career – in the arms of the famous secretary of the Italian Communist Party died on 11 June 1984 (Berlusconi died on 12 June 2023). Both are serene and smiling, the first in a blue double-breasted suit and black Derby shoe, the second in a gray suit and red tie.

In publishing the work on Instagram, Palombo reported two quotes from two political leaders: “We are saved and move forward if we act together and not just one by one”pronounced by Berlinguer; “Love always wins over envy and hate”, of the former Prime Minister. A message of unity for a country that seems, at least in politics, increasingly divided.
