The return of the most awaited small car of all has finally been made official: the new Fiat Panda is here, features, price and above all aesthetics.
For a long time this year we have been waiting for the arrival of new generation of the Fiat Panda, a car that acts as a watershed for a Stellantis Group that is going through many changes starting from the ecological transition up to an almost complete revision of the price list. Among the many “nostalgia operations” carried out by the Turin brand we also find the Topolino and the 600 but it is on this car that they are more concentrated than expectations.
The Fiat Panda is a legendary carthe longest-lived for the Fiat brand with over 40 uninterrupted years of production and three generations that have become a cult on the internet – there are plenty of memes about this vehicle – on the road with millions of units produced and sold, throughout Europe with many clones authorized or not produced in other countries and from an economic point of view.
But now we have arrived to the new generation of the car, the fourth which – as Stellantis announced some time ago – is more similar to an SUV than a small car. Will this have completely distorted the car’s nature and infuriated enthusiasts? Maybe, not: judging from this first exclusive image, the manufacturer has succeeded in bringing together tradition and future in one incredible car.
Fiat Panda returns to its origins
The new images of the car don’t lie but let’s start with the specifications which have been made known to the public. There has been talk for some time now of a car with a price of less than 20 thousand euros with the possibility of taking advantage of eco incentives in the electric version – now confirmed – and which could be fitted with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine producing 100 horsepower in the thermal version with a length of 3.99 meters and an increased ground clearance compared to the old series.
Still suppositions given that the car will not be revealed until at least July 11th, the day of the 125th anniversary of the manufacturer, while we now have a certainty about its appearance. This is the definitive aspect of the new Panda, a car that makes no secret of the love that the company – and its customers – have for its historic past. The squared lines and ground clearance they are very reminiscent of the first Panda 4×4, the popular off-road vehicle par excellence in our country.
Some details bring the model back to the present: the pixel-shaped light clusters are a nice find, as are those circles with a decidedly futuristic appearance. Purists, however, like the off-centred logo located at the back but also at the front just like on the very first models released in 1980. What can I say, since stylistic point of view the car seems more than perfect to us: we are waiting for the first road tests to understand if the substance lives up to appearance!
