Everything is ready to PaesanaWhere Sunday 23 Junethe local Forest Fire Fighting Team will celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of its foundation. The reality, today led by the villager Davide Perassofor years it has been at the forefront in the fight and prevention of forest fires but also in civil protection interventions, and in 2024 it reached the important milestone, which it is preparing to celebrate next weekend.
In fact, between the 1980s and 1990s, there was a forest fire prevention team attributable to the then mountain community. Then, with the great fire emergency of 1990, a further group of volunteers was formed who made themselves available to intervene in the event of forest fires. The “merger” of these two entities led to the formation of a first entity, which in 1992 was headed by the AIB Team of Bagnolo Piemonte.
Meanwhile, in 1994, the Paesana AIB Team was founded, at the time part of the regional association of volunteer forest fire fighters in Piedmont. Two years later, it was 1996, the transition to the Piedmont Volunteer Forest Fire Fighting Corps. Thirty years, therefore, of great commitment towards local communities and for the protection of the territory. A “piece” of history that will be retraced on Sunday, during the thirty-year anniversary celebrations, at which AIB teams from all over the province, authorities and village voluntary associations are expected.
The program includes, at 9.30 am, the welcome of the participants in Piazza Piave; 10.30 am, the Holy Mass in the parish church of Santa Margherita, in memory of the deceased AIB volunteers; at 11.30 am, the official speeches and the volunteer awards ceremony and then, to follow, the aperitif offered by the Paesana AIB Team.
