UAE Emirates is playing another sport this year. In almost every World Tour race the Emirati team has destroyed its opponents. We are returning from a Giro d’Italia dominated by Tadej Pogacar, but the music doesn’t change at the Tour of Switzerlandwith Adam Yates and Joao Almeida who defeated the competition by winning two stages each and finishing first and second in the general classification.
Even in the last individual time trial (a 15.7 kilometer time trial towards Villars-sur-Ollon) the double arrived, as had already happened in the last three days. The Portuguese takes advantage of his skills against the clock and triumphed with a time of 33.23.87 at an average speed of 28,205 km/h.
Behind him is Yates, who defends the Yellow Jersey as leader of the general classification as best he can: 8″ behind, 22″ ahead in the ranking. First of the non-Emiratis is Mattias Skjelmose: the Dane from Lidl-Trek is third, 20″ from the top, also grabbing the podium in the general classification.
Fourth is the American Matthew Riccitello (Israel – Premier Tech), surprise of the week, while fifth is Tom Pidcock (Ineos Grenadiers). At home in Italy, good performance for Damiano Caruso (Bahrain-Victorious), twelfth.
