Two days ago, the Victor San Marino of the highly contested president Emiliano Montanari, who was president of the failed Siena only to then move to Legnano sold to Enea Benedetto and relegated to Eccellenza, willingly announced the coach of the 2024-25 season: the chosen one, the expert mister Mauro Antonioli.
This is the note:
“Sporting director Gianluca Bollini is pleased to announce that he has entrusted the first team bench to Mauro Antonioli. The Milanese coach born in ’68 boasts, among others, 57 appearances and 1 goal in Serie B and ended his football career precisely in San Marino in the Libertas of Borgo Maggiore.
As a coach he sat on important category and Lega Pro benches such as Forlì, Imolese, Sambenedettese and Fermana just to name a few. Together with Antonioli, in the role of second, also arrives Ivan Piccoli, his trusted collaborator for several years. Piccoli, as a footballer boasted 110 appearances and 6 goals in Serie B between Cesena and Ancona.

For the new coach, President Montanari’s project proved to be very ambitious and stimulating right from the start and reaching an agreement was quite simple. While waiting to communicate the complete organizational chart of the new coach’s collaborators, the San Marino Calcio transfer market can now officially begin, between renewals and additions.”
Then, yesterday, the unlikely: in the night the coach thinks better of it and cancels his contract, with the club which – inexplicably (?) – is keen to point out that Antonioli’s choice is not attributable to the attitude of the club which defines itself as “always transparent and respectful towards him”. No one had made any accusations.
In any case, this is the statement:
“San Marino Calcio communicates with amazement Mauro Antonioli’s sudden and unexpected change of heart regarding his role as first team coach. Antonioli’s decision, referring to DS Bollini, took place during the night despite the fact that an agreement had been reached on all contractual aspects including that of the role of assistant coach are not attributable in any way to the actions of San Marino Calcio which are always transparent and respectful towards him, even at this moment.”
