After Enrico Presilla, who on Saturday announced that he wanted to vote for Stefano Zuccarini, now comes the official position of Moreno Finamonti. Like the exponent of Alternative Popular, the mayoral candidate of “La Voce di Foligno” will not be among those who will compete in the election in the second round. The ballot will in fact see a two-way challenge between Stefano Zuccarini and Mauro Masciotti, representatives of the centre-right and centre-left respectively. And, in view of the same, “La Voce di Foligno” is ready to support, through the alliance (which however will not happen officially between Presilla and Zuccarini), the mayoral candidate of the progressive coalition. This was announced by Doctor Moreno Finamonti himself, through a note released on Sunday morning. A statement that starts with an attack against Stefano Zuccarini, who only a few hours ago had spoken of “affinity” with Finamonti. “Zuccarini – says Finamonti – only now recognizes the undersigned’s affinity with his political line, when in reality he never wanted to listen to and support any of our initiatives for the city, thus demonstrating the inconsistency and last-minute opportunism permeated always from the lack of humility that distinguishes him”. The reference, not even slightly veiled, is certainly to the “Medicus – Gentile da Foligno” award organized by Moreno Finamonti for several years now. An event that brought illustrious figures from national medicine and beyond to the city and which recently did not find the necessary support from the outgoing administration. Which is why the event has partly “moved” to Perugia. But even during the electoral campaign, during the discussions between the two forces, there was no shortage of exchanges of views and “barbs” which Finamonti does not shy away from throwing on this occasion too: “I see on the one hand a mayor who aims exclusively at his second and last mandate and having verified the inadequacy of his work in these five years, I am convinced that he will do nothing for Foligno other than the usual partisan interests in the certainty that he will have to leave at the end anyway. On the other hand – writes Finamonti in a note – there is a heterogeneous centre-left, with a strong moderate area where several people already expert in administration stand out and with whom I believe I am more similar who, having learned the lesson of 2019, will commit themselves certainly to give continuity to his administration, knowing that otherwise the voters will be able to ‘send them home’ after five years”. By virtue of all this, Moreno Finamonti dissolves his reservations and announces his support for the candidate of the progressive coalition: “After a pleasant conversation with the candidate Masciotti who reached me personally, we parted with the promise to make a difference and therefore to choose the team only for competence and ability, ‘conditio sine qua non’ of my support, which clearly did not happen during the Zuccarini administration.

I therefore invite my voters to make these important considerations by supporting the only party that can serve their interests. In the event of victory – concludes Finamonti – we will be there to guarantee that what was promised is achieved, always fighting to safeguard the now collapsing local public health system, the main reason for our entry into the field”.

On Sunday morning, the declaration of connection between the mayoral candidate, Mauro Masciotti, and the “La
Voce di Foligno” for the run-off on Sunday 23 and Monday 24 June.
