Baby girl dies in Aosta, at least two doctors under investigation

(ANSA) – AOSTA, JUNE 15 – At least two health professionals are being investigated by the Aosta prosecutor’s office as part of the investigation into the death of a two-year-old girl which occurred on the night between 10 and 11 June at the Beauregard hospital of the regional capital. These are two pediatricians who – based on initial findings – would have played a role in the management of the case. It is possible that other doctors will also be under investigation.

With the notice of guarantee, at this stage they will be able to participate with their consultants in the autopsy ordered by the prosecutor’s office, and scheduled for next Monday, to shed light on the causes of death. The alleged crime is manslaughter. The little girl was taken to hospital in the night between last Sunday and Monday due to an indisposition. After checks in the pediatric department, she was discharged and sent home as she was in ‘good condition’. On Monday afternoon her family took her back to hospital as her ailment had not completely resolved. She was then subjected to further checks and further treatment. To be on the safe side, she was kept under observation in the health facility. The situation worsened late in the evening when her condition worsened. At 3 o’clock she died from causes currently unknown. (HANDLE). .
