CNA Forlì-Cesena turns 70 and reopens its headquarters, renovated after the flood

Exactly 70 years after its establishment on 15 June 1954, CNA Forlì-Cesena reopens its provincial headquarters, heavily affected by the flood, with welcoming, renovated and reorganized premises. A concrete sign of resilience and restart.

The ribbon cutting ceremony, which was held on the morning of Saturday 15 June, was attended by the mayor of Forlì Gian Luca Zattini, the vicar of the bishop Don Enrico Casadei, the national president of CNA Dario Costantini; for CNA Forlì-Cesena the provincial president Lorenzo Zanotti and the general director Franco Napolitano, accompanied by the testimony of a CNA employee, Danila Padovani.

Also present was a qualified representation of institutions and the world of economic associations, as well as numerous managers, associates and collaborators of CNA.

70 Years of history

Established on 15 June 1954 as APF (Provincial Crafts of Forlì), a member of the CNA and started with three employees, in the very first months in via Luffo Numai and then for the following 14 years in via Giove Tonante in Forlì. On November 24 of the same year the decision was made to establish the Cesena section.

A progressive growth over the decades, to cover the entire provincial territory, both in terms of representation and services to businesses. A formidable training ground of democracy for the members, always demonstrating a strong ideal tension towards the future, going beyond the narrow confines of the exclusive defense of artisanal interests. The CNA has gradually become accredited as a true development agent, protagonist of programmatic development in the economic field, accompanying the great transformation, which will lead from the classic artisan to the figure of the small entrepreneur.

Starting as a crafts association, CNA has opened up to different worlds, such as professionals, small industries and the varied world of Non-Profit. Distinctive for CNA Forlì-Cesena is the CNA Citizens project and the great representativeness of CNA Pensioners. In recent decades, marked by turbulence and crises of epochal scale, CNA has been a point of reference, a central player in the community.

“Continuously close by” is the claim chosen by CNA Forlì-Cesena to accompany the celebrations of its 70 years. A strong message of closeness: for 70 years, CNA has been alongside those who have ideas and courage to get involved and open a new business, alongside entrepreneurs who give their lives for their company, accompanying them in projects, investments, moments of difficulties, in managing and training staff and much more. Being “next to” means being part of a network of precious relationships, starting from the relationship with institutions, the world of school and other associations. It is no coincidence that the initiatives for the 70th anniversary are inspired by a desire to give back to the community to which they belong.

The flood: shock and restart

The damage caused by the flood a year ago was extensive: the basement (which contained technical rooms, press centre, historical archive and part of the current archive) was completely flooded; the ground floor was also seriously compromised, with both the offices and the recently renovated meeting room damaged. Finally, significant damage also occurred in the adjacent rooms in Via Pelacano 42, where the CNA Cittadini offices are located. Furthermore, all the IT infrastructures and communication systems of the 23 offices in the area depend on the headquarters.

“After the initial shock, CNA immediately took action, managing to restore the IT infrastructure very quickly, thus allowing the 300 collaborators to be operational by working in smart working – they explain -. Even without electricity in Via Pelacano, the risk of paralysis in the offices in the area was therefore averted, thus guaranteeing support to businesses, some of which were themselves affected by the flood. In this sense, the investments made in recent years in technology and modern work organization have been fundamental.”

The redevelopment intervention

The redevelopment intervention concerned a total surface area of 1500 m2, of which 300 m2 were in the headquarters in via Pelacano 42. Here are the most significant elements in detail.

The ventilated facade system: the existing facade cladding was removed and a 10 cm layer of glass wool was added to improve the thermal insulation of the building. Thanks to a metal structure and new Italian ceramic slabs (Class A), the ventilated façade was completed: a covering envelope that guarantees natural ventilation, elimination of excess humidity, summer cooling and control of winter heat loss. To further improve indoor thermal comfort, shading shelters have been inserted on the most exposed side.

Acoustic redevelopment: the redevelopment of the E. Domeniconi conference room involved an important acoustic study through which it was decided to insert insulating panels in mineralized thin spruce wood wool. A material also chosen because, in addition to improving comfort in the room, it is ideal for finishes of high aesthetic value, sound-absorbing, with high reaction to fire characteristics. Further precautions were applied in the division between the offices and the distribution space, using high-performance glass walls, to achieve a noise reduction of 37 DB.

Lighting redevelopment: the entire new lighting system includes low-consumption LED fixtures with the DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) system, which allows us to avoid waste and light dispersion.

Indoor redevelopment: with the aim of improving the indoor microclimate and the comfort of those who will use the new designed environments, we opted for biophilic design solutions, through the use of natural materials, potted vegetation and stabilized moss, soft and relaxing colors .

CNA Forlì-Cesena wanted to underline a particular thanks to the companies that contributed to the works, bringing their professionalism and expertise: Edil Esterni, La Frigotermica, Nuova Andri, Elettrotecnica Liverani, Studio Tecno Nova, Poletti, GSA, Garavini Impianti.
