Palazzo Ducale and its construction sites: public update meeting on Wednesday

MANTOVA – For three years now, Palazzo Ducale has started a campaign of works of extraordinary intensity, comparable to that phase undertaken by Clinio Cottafavi between the twenties and thirties of the twentieth century. They are underway seismic and structural improvements, refunctionalisations, restorations, opening of new areas of the monument.

The need and planning of the works dates back in some cases to 2012at the time of the earthquake, and involves strategic and design choices, reflections on intervention methodologies, management of daily difficulties and interferences.

In the past, “good governance” was also iconographically depicted by the fervor of construction sites, a mirror of lively activity and therefore well-being. Is it still like this today?

The launch of major interventions means both improving the conservation conditions of the Doge’s Palace and offering job opportunities. These are accompanied by the resumption of constant maintenance activities.

Palazzo Ducale feels the need to meet a wide audience, to give an account of its work and commitment to the protection and conservation of the monument.

An assessment of these three years full of activity and future prospects will take place Wednesday 19 June, at 5.30 pm, in the Archers’ Atrium. The meeting is open to everyone: to the curious, to those who have perplexities or doubts about choices and strategies, to “experts”, to those who follow the fate of the Palazzo Ducale with interest, to those who want to start doing so.

Stefano Scansanijournalist, will introduce and lead the meeting, in the presence of the architect Antonio Giovanni Mazzeriresponsible for a large part of the ongoing interventions, and of Stefano L’Occasodirector of the Museum.

An opportunity to map the Museum “under the knife” and to discover the Museum of the future.

Participation in the meeting is free and booking via Google form or by telephone is appreciated (Infopoint tel. 0376352100 active from Tuesday to Sunday 8.30-13.30).
