The initiative is promoted by the city councilor Roberto Pantellacoordinator of the Green Cross of Civitanova Marche, following a discussion with the municipal administration to give maximum dissemination of information on how to recognize and deal with cardiac arrest and use the devices present in the area to help make Civitanova a safer place for everyone.

“The municipal administration supports and promotes the issue of city safety, also with special regard to the social and health sphere – underlines the mayor Fabrizio Ciarapica. Our commitment is to guarantee the presence of various facilities in the area with specific reference to prevention and first aid actions, from the summer medical facility, to the aquatic facility, to the sea rescue service. As regards the AEDs, we will proceed to complete the installation and commissioning of two others in the southern coastal area and in Civitanova Alta”.

The project also includes the training of 20 operatorsof which 5 are to be identified among beach operators in consideration of the intense summer tourist movement on the beach, 3 among Civil Protection volunteers, 2 among Library staff and 10 among municipal staff.

Wednesday’s program will open with institutional greetings from the mayor Fabrizio Ciarapica and the social services councilor Barbara Capponi. Following this, councilor Roberto Pantella will specifically illustrate the project and the presentation of the speakers.

“The Civitanova Cardioprotetta project does not just concern the installation of defibrillators but represents a truly collective commitment – explains Pantella. We are aware that it is not enough just to have AEDs available, it is essential that each of us knows how to use them correctly. For this reason, the administration intends to organize free training sessions starting from Thursday 19th, open to all citizens. The importance of this project is twofold: on the one hand we want to improve the safety and well-being of our community, on the other we promote a culture of solidarity. Knowing that we can count on each other in critical moments strengthens the social bond and makes us a stronger and more united community.”

“I thank councilor Pantella for his competent and passionate proactivity which arises from his personal vocation for rescue and prevention – declares councilor Capponi. As an operator for years I have trained in the use of AED and pediatric obstruction: we have introduced the latter as an administration also in the program agreement with schools and promoted it to citizens through our family center, with many courses always free and very popular. The culture of active and participatory prevention is therefore expanding, for everyone and with everyone, for the protection and work of everyone who, with a few simple gestures, may be able to save someone else’s life. We await numerous citizens for this very important opportunity”.

These are Wednesday’s speeches: “Crucial information on the prevention and management of cardiac emergencies” with the precious contribution of the Head Doctor Dr. Umberto Berrettini, operational unit director of cardiology/Utic Civitanova Marche; “Theoretical notions and practical demonstration, simulation of emergency situations using the AED” by the Medical Assistance technical staff who will illustrate the operation and methods of use of the device. An open question and answer session will follow with the possibility of carrying out practical tests on mannequins. Entrance is free.
