First day of the European speed canoe championships and it is immediately a great Italy on the Maty-ér Regatta Course, in Szeged, Hungary. Two gold medals, arrived in the K2 1000m with Samuele Burgo and Andrea Schera and in the C2 1000m with Carlo Tacchini and Gabriele Casadei. Burgo and Schera crossed the finish line with a time of 3:11.13 ahead of Hungary’s Bence Vajda and Tamas Szabo (3:11.68) and France’s Carre Cyrille and Hubert Etienne (3:13.48). Tacchini and Casadei clocked 3:29.37 at the finish line, beating the German silver medal team of Adam Mortiz and Nico Pickert (3:31.63) and the bronze medalist Moldavian team, formed by Oleg, by more than two seconds. Tarnovschi and Mihai Chihaia (3:31.82). Fourth position for Simone Bernocchi and Andrea Di Liberto in the K2 200m. Ninth position for Agata Fantini in the K1 1000m, sixth Mattia Alfonsi in the C1 200. Giacomo Cinti’s K1 500m finished the B final in third place with a time of 1:39.57.
In the semi-finals of the morning, Samuele Burgo had passed the semi-final round of the K1 1000m with the third fastest time. Third and final time to reach the final also for the K4 500m of Manfredi Rizza, Tommaso Freschi, Francesco Lanciotti and Giovanni Penato who qualified in 1:21.54. They have to settle for access to the Final B Agata Fantini in the K1 200m, Nicoale Craciun in the C1 1000m and the K2 500m of Manfredi Rizza and Tommaso Freschi
