Life is Strange: Double Exposure, new details from yesterday’s live stream – News Nintendo Switch, Playstation 5, Xbox Series

Yesterday Square Enix® broadcast the presentation video of Life is Strange: Double Exposurewhich explains everything you need to know about the new chapter in the award-winning narrative adventure series.

Presenter Elyse Willems (Funhaus, 30 Morbid Minutes) interviewed Deck Nine developers Jonathan Stauder (game director) and Felice Kuan (narrative director), asking them for more details about this exciting new adventure, for example how they designed the game in so that it was appealing to both longtime fans and new players. Even if echoes of Max’s past are perceived throughout the story, it is not necessary to have the save files of the old Life is Strange to play this new chapter.

Felice Kuan, narrative director, specified:

“We knew we had to do something special. We also knew we had to respect the two unforgettable endings of the first chapter of Max’s story while creating something new. Something that takes into account Max’s old challenges, while still continuing his personal story, attracting new players from the start and giving fans something they didn’t know they wanted.”

Towards the end of the video, Elyse also chatted with Hannah Telle (the actress who plays Max Caulfield), who talked about her emotional journey from past Max to present Max:

“Max has evolved, and so have her powers. He didn’t use that power for a very long time, rightly so, because he was devastating. And so he transformed into something different. He can travel between timelines. He is in a unique position to understand what is really going on with this terrible story of Safi’s death.”

We also talked about Max’s new ability to jump from one timeline to another. Jonathan Stauder, game director, explained:

“The fact that Max can jump between timelines gives us a lot of new possibilities. Max will move between two different versions of the same places, and will be able to use his powers to solve puzzles and uncover clues that he otherwise wouldn’t have access to.”

The video, which includes previously unseen images and behind-the-scenes footage, ends with extended gameplay of the first chapter, in which the protagonist Max and her friends Safi and Moses watch a meteor shower from the terrace of the Caledon observatory. However, things soon take an unexpected turn…
