FVG Bike Trail, the bikepacking event to discover Friuli makes its debut

The first edition of the FVG Bike Trail.

He will leave on September 19, 2024 from Villa Manin the first edition of FVG Bike Trailthe bikepacking event aimed at all great lovers of cycling and outdoor tourism. FVG Bike Trail was born with the aim of guiding its participants through an intimate discovery of the wonders of the region Friuli Venezia Giuliacombining the love of cyclingwith the spirit of adventure and the pleasure of voyage.

Two paths to tell the story of Friuli Venezia Giulia.

To take part in the event you can choose between two circular routes of different length and intensity: the longest from 490km and with 5,200 D+ and a shorter one from 190km with 2,000 D+. Each route has been designed to give participants an authentic concentration of nature, history and beauty of the Friulian territory and winds along the secondary and forest roads of the region. From the hills of San Daniele to the coast of Lignano, passing through Venzone, Gemona, the Torre and Natisone valleys, the Colli Orientali, Cividale, Palmanova and Marano Lagunare. “As Friulians and great bike enthusiasts, designing these two routes was perhaps the most challenging part of the project. We tried to give shape to a story on two wheels capable of giving back to those who ride it a truthful and unexpected photograph of our region”, declares Giacomo Mirandacreator and organizer of FVG Bike Trail.

No race: you ride at your own pace.

FVG Bike Trail it is a single-stage (or unsupported) non-competitive event. Each participant can decide in complete freedom which route to tackle, when to leave (the scheduled departure dates range from 19 to 21 September 2024 and can be selected during registration), how much to pedal and where to stop. The track of the chosen route in .gpx format will be provided by the organization shortly before departure. The starting and arrival point for both routes is the exclusive location of Villa Manin in Passariano di Codroipo, easily reachable by all means of transport, including bikes.

“We chose the format unsupported because we believe that it goes well with a region like Friuli Venezia Giulia, a beautiful land, rich in routes and connections, but at times unknown even for those who live there”, he explains Miranda. “When thinking about the event, therefore, we wanted that anyone who participated could do so freely but also consciouslyand the philosophy of an unsupported event is precisely this: no one dictates the times, you pedal at your own pace and in freedom, but you are also called to enter into a real connection with the territory, to get to know it, to independently organize stops and overnight stays” .

The event shirt signed by Gianni Borta.

To represent the strong bond between FVG Bike Trail and its territory, the official shirt of the first edition of the event bears the signature of a great Friulian artist, the maestro Gianni Borta. Illustrious painter and leading figure of Italian naturalistic art, Borta transformed the Supergiara Jersey model by Sportful (technical partner of the event) into a precious canvas where art and cycling come together in a mosaic of colours. The result is a true work of art that, pedal after pedalwill accompany the participants on the roads of Friuli Venezia Giulia and, once the event is over, it will remain an iconic piece to be jealously guarded.
