The apocalyptic catastrophism of the priests of the climate religion it doesn’t seem to pay off politically. This was amply demonstrated by the recent European elections, which soundly rejected turbo-ecological parties and movements throughout the old continent, which literally emerged with broken bones from the vote for the renewal of the community institutions.
Upon closer inspection, however, this is not an exclusively European trend. Indeed, paradoxically there are even those who, even at a local level, are worse off. Much worse.

This is the case of the climatologist Luca Mercalliknown to the general public due to his television appearances in ‘What’s the weather like’candidate for the city council of Usseauxa town in the province of Turin where Fazio’s program does not seem to be enjoying great success.
In the small village in the Turin area, which has less than two hundred souls, the citizens were called to elect the new mayor, choosing between Cristina Cappelletti, who was later elected, and Alberto Sasso, in whose lists the name of Mercalli also appeared, among others. , determined to undertake, starting from the bottom, the path of political career with the intention of pleading the climate change cause that is so dear to him.
At least according to the electoral result achieved, however, it would seem that the climatologist, with his arguments, did not convince the inhabitants of Usseaux much. The response from the polls was in fact merciless: zero votes in his favor. Not even a shred of card with the name Mercalli written on it. A verdict bordering on tragicomedy, which also took the person directly involved by surprise, who said he was amazed at the distrust shown towards him by the citizens of the Turin village, careful not to let themselves be enchanted by either the environmentalist narrative or the notoriety of the character. “They used the same indifference that they use for the environment”, commented the climate scientist angrily after learning the result of the count, which for him turned out to be nothing short of a failure.
The resounding defeat suffered by Usseaux would therefore seem to have nipped in the bud the political ambitions of the climatologist so dear to Fabio Fazio. And to think that, among the Greens, there were even those who would have wanted him as Minister of the Environment, as Mercalli himself admitted without mincing words. In the meantime, however, at least in this first political ‘experiment’, as he himself, as a scientist, likes to define it, the vote thermometer has not moved from zero in the slightest.
