Today new meeting between Robur and the Municipality. Spotlight on ‘Franchi’ and ‘Bertoni’

Today, the rooms of the Palazzo Pubblico will host the second close meeting, after the one on May 28th, between the municipal administration and the top management of Siena FC (with the Juventus president Simone Giacomini who should be connected remotely).

At the center of the meeting, inevitably, was the question of the Franchi stadium and the Bertoni training ground, an issue to be resolved as soon as possible, in view of the start of next season, and also looking to an earlier future, both as regards the first team and the youth sector, a topic to which Robur’s number one has returned several times, underlining its importance.

As the Municipality itself explained, the administration “proceded to summon the representatives of Siena Fc to update the Juventus club on the works already planned in the Artemio Franchi and Massimo Bertoni facilities for approximately 350 thousand euros and to define the methods of entrusting the management of the structures, confirming once again the desire to support the start of the next sports season, also on the wave of enthusiasm after the promotion to Serie D”.

Interventions, those planned by the Public Palace, necessary to make both the old Rastrello and the Acquacalda pitch usable: after a year of abandonment and neglect, the two facilities require a restyling, both as regards the playing field, both with regards to the structures (without forgetting the seismic adaptation works of the Franchi which the ACR Siena never carried out and which the administration said it was ready to provide in any case).

Rapid action is therefore needed, after the year spent on standby due to the legal dispute between the parties, for the revocation of the ten-year concession for the use of the two structures (the dispute has now been ‘moved’ to civil proceedings, after the summons to Court of Siena of the Municipality by the club last year in the hands of Emiliano Montanari, with the request for 18 million and 450 thousand euros in damages, with the same Municipality which in turn will appear within the terms of the law). The hope is that today’s meeting at the Palazzo Pubblico can give the start to an effective process of collaboration and unity for the future of Sienese football, on the eve of the first team’s return to Serie D and the resumption of the sector’s activity youth.
