REGASIFICATION PLANT: PUBLIC MEETING – Quilianonline

Mayor Nicola Isetta took office on Tuesday and today called a public meeting for updates and information on the project to relocate the FSRU Golar Tundra in the upper Tyrrhenian Sea and on the new connection to the national natural gas transport network. At the meeting, scheduled for Monday 17 June, at 5.30 pm in the council room of the Municipality, there will be an update on the administrative procedures initiated and information regarding the initiative undertaken by Snam for the establishment of easements and amicable transfers of land in the Municipality of Quiliano. The meeting is open to all.

With the governor and commissioner Giovanni Toti, overwhelmed by the judicial scandal, the battle continues on the no front. The rejection of the regasifier in a valuable area such as the Bergeggi marine area came from authoritative sources, Ispra, the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research, the Port Authority, biologists. Against the impact on the agricultural, tourist and entrepreneurial environment of the area, Quiliano immediately took a firm position by completely rejecting the project. It was thought that the judicial matter could slow down the implementation of the plan, but Snam continued to proceed as if nothing had happened, even if the Via commission of the Ministry of the Environment ordered the integration of the project because there are too many doubts that in the current phase raises. Snam will have 120 days available to respond with the additions requested by the Ministry of the Environment. This shows that Quiliano’s initial protest was well founded, when mayor Isetta had claimed that the project was incomplete and unclear and had sent it back to the sender. While Snam is integrating the project, it has also updated the list of interested areas and has started sending letters for proposals for amicable agreements for the land that will be used for the realization of the project both to residents in Val Bormida and in Quiliano, where it should pass the pipeline.

The Region, meanwhile, has clarified that the transition from president Toti to vice president Alessandro Piana as commissioner for the Golar Tundra regasification terminal does not work automatically. President Toti was appointed Extraordinary Commissioner, pursuant to Legislative Decree 50/2022, not as president of the Liguria Region. So we await Toti’s decisions on his resignation as president of the regional council and as commissioner for the regasification terminal.
