Motorist insults cyclists on the road, then stops and punches one (17 years old): reported

A 17-year-old in hospital with two broken teeth and a fractured nasal septum

He insults cyclists along the road, then stops and attacks one, aged just 17, hitting him with several punches in the face. This is what happened on Tuesday afternoon on the provincial road of Brisighella, between the hamlets of Fognano and Castellina, in the municipality of Brisighella.

The professional cyclist from Faenza Manuele Tarozzi, fresh from participating in the Giro d’Italia, recounts the episode on the pages of Carlino Ravenna on newsstands today (13 June).

Tarozzi says he was training with two young athletes from a Bolognese team. «We were pedaling in single file – he says – and yet a motorist driving a van behind us honked his horn». The man then allegedly overtook the cyclists, covering them with insults and threats, almost attempting to make Tarozzi himself fall, who in those excited moments attempted to alert a police patrol spotted in the distance. In the meantime, however, the man allegedly pounced on one of the two boys, a 17-year-old, hitting him in the face with his fists. The minor suffered a fractured nasal septum and two broken teeth: he was then released from hospital with a 30-day prognosis.

The carabinieri then identified the man, an Italian of about 40 years old, with various previous cases for injuries, reported for personal injuries.
