“Absurd deaths, we don’t give ourselves peace”

“Hi Sara, make sure the sun always shines together with our loved ones.” The photo on a beach accompanies one of the many messages of condolence for Sara Capani, who died at the age of 31 on Monday evening after the crash on a moped in via Novara: driving the Kymco Agility 125 which ended its race against a traffic island c ‘It was my friend Samuele Lunardi, who would have turned 40 on October 26th. He also passed away. “An absurd death, we cannot give ourselves peace”, say the family of the man, who lived in the Quinto Romano area with his mother and was the father of a 9-year-old girl. He wasn’t very “social” and little can be learned about him from his Facebook account, except that he was a big AC Milan fan and that he loved Vasco Rossi’s music. Sara Capani, on the other hand, is more present, for whom words of affection but also of anger for her death have been multiplying online for two days. She lived in Settimo Milanese but her roots, according to what can be seen from her profile, were in Gallipoli, in Salento, where the girl returned every summer for holidays. “On Sunday – writes a friend – you told me that you couldn’t wait to come down, you wanted to be there at all costs for my birthday. I called you immediately after the bad news because I didn’t want to believe it, I was hoping you would answer me to tell me: go it’s okay, it’s not me. Now I still don’t want to believe it, you broke my heart. Just thinking about it makes me lose my strength, how can it be done?”.

Another friend continues: “There are some people who bring such a great light into the world that, even after they are gone, the light remains. And you will be like that for me my dear friend! This year it will be sad not to see you: as soon as you arrived in Gallipoli, coming to me was among your first stops. You always told me. I will always love you! Again, a girl publishes a photo of the latest messages exchanged with her on WhatsApp. She now writes: “I will miss you very much. Rest in peace, beautiful angel.” And there are so many moving memories.

The fatal crash dates back to 10pm on Monday: Sara and Samuele were riding their scooter, returning home, probably after an evening spent with other friends, when in via Novara at the intersection with via Silla, the main road that leads to the neighborhood of Figino, something unclear happens on which investigative investigations are still underway: a camera records the sudden and apparently inexplicable swerve of the vehicle, which veers from the central lane towards the traffic island: in a matter of seconds the Kymco knocks down a road sign and ends up against the traffic light pole, bending it. Rescued in desperate conditions, the two died shortly after. According to the first findings of the local police Radiomobile, the man would have done everything alone, without the involvement of other vehicles. It is not known whether due to an illness, a breakdown or to avoid an obstacle. “We will not rest – the family comments – until we know what made Samuele go astray”.
