Former midfielder Gigi Di Biagio has expressed his opinion on Lazio’s current conditions and on the club’s decision to entrust the bench to Marco Baroni. Speaking at the microphones of TV PlayDi Biagio was quite frank in his statements, explaining the context in which the team finds itself.
Lazio is no longer what it once was
Di Biagio underlined how Lazio is no longer the competitive team it was two or three years ago. According to him, the team has suffered a significant weakening and no longer possesses the same strength it had in the past. This change poses a huge challenge for Marco Baroni, who will have the task of reviving the team’s fortunes.
Baroni: a field coach
Speaking of Marco Baroni, Di Biagio had words of esteem, defining him as a pitch coach, capable of making the most of the players available. However, despite the qualities recognized in Baroni, Di Biagio highlighted how achieving a placing between sixth and eighth place in the championship would already be a miracle, given Lazio’s current circumstances.
The challenge of valorizing players
One of Baroni’s main tasks will be to make the most of Lazio’s players. According to Di Biagio, Baroni’s ability to work on the field could be a key element in obtaining positive results. However, he remains skeptical about the team’s chances of reaching top positions in the current championship.
