Accident in Bravetta, grandmother and granddaughter hit on a pedestrian crossing: the woman, Anna Maria Zuppello, died, the child was injured

Road tragedy in Bravetta. An 82-year-old pensioner, Anna Maria Zuppello, died at the San Camillo hospital from serious injuries sustained in an accident that occurred on the morning of 7 June last in Via Silvestri. According to the reconstruction of the traffic police, the elderly woman was crossing the road holding her seven-year-old granddaughter’s hand on the pedestrian crossing when the two were hit by a Volkswagen Tiguan driven by a 64-year-old woman who immediately stopped to help them. However, the 82-year-old’s condition immediately appeared very serious and was transferred by ambulance to hospital in code red while the little girl was cared for in code yellow and is out of danger. A few hours later the grandmother died despite treatment from the doctors.

The car was seized by municipal police while the driver was subjected to the ritual tests. Her mobile phone was also acquired to check whether at the time of the accident the user was active in calling or exchanging messages with someone, facts which could have distracted the woman behind the wheel. Already in the next few hours the latter could be investigated for murder and road injuries, at least as a necessary act. For some time, the inhabitants of the area have been reporting the dangerousness of the streets of the neighborhood and above all the failure to respect speed limits and signs, just like pedestrian crossings. Since the beginning of the year, the toll of road victims in Rome and its province has unfortunately risen to 67.
