she asks him for his card and scares him away

PESARO Fraud commuters. A woman with a disability is relieved of 2000 euros. The police intercept two criminals and an old woman scares another away. These are hot days because only five days ago there was an arrest. But criminals never stop and yesterday morning the Flying Squad accompanied two people, a man and a woman, both 23 years old, from Naples, with criminal records, to the police station.

What happened

The two had been seen in a rental car, a recurring element for scam commuters. Immediately stopped, they gave no reason for their presence. Having seen the documents, it emerged that the woman had been arrested last December for scamming the elderly. Both were issued with an expulsion order from the Municipality of Pesaro for a period of 1 year. The man was reported, with his driving license withdrawn, because during the check he possessed a quantity of narcotic substance. The preventive activity and information to citizens on the problem is starting to bear fruit, even if with different results. On Monday evening, around 5.45pm in a house in Sant’Andrea in Villis, an 87-year-old lady received a phone call from a male voice.

The latter, introducing himself as a policeman, spoke to her about an accident in which her son was involved and about a woman who was taken to hospital in serious condition, adding that money or gold was needed to prevent him from ending up in prison. Upon this request, the old woman told him that at the moment she was not in possession of cash but only gold. The self-styled policeman asked her to put all the gold in a bag and that she would go and collect it as soon as possible. During the entire procedure to collect the jewels, her call was never interrupted, so that the old woman did not investigate the real conditions of her son. At 6pm a boy who said he was part of the Carabinieri showed up at the lady’s door, but the old woman, before handing over the bag, asked where the service car was and if she would be shown the badge , as well as becoming suspicious of the subject’s young age, started screaming, putting him to flight. Unfortunately, another case involving a 50-year-old woman with a disability, resident in the center of Pesaro, had a very different outcome. When she was contacted by so-called operators of her bank, they invited her to transfer her money from her bank account to the card. prepaid card from the same institution, following reports of fraud received against it. The woman, frightened by this notice, agreed to this invitation by crediting the sum of almost 2000 euros to the prepaid card, via bank transfer.

In detail

At this point the woman called her bank but the operator, in confirming that the money had been withdrawn, confirmed the scam, declaring that the bank had not requested any type of operation and that therefore she had suffered a scam. The work of the State Police once again confirms the dramatic relevance of the phenomenon of fraud on the elderly which, for the Pesaro and Urbino Police Headquarters alone in the last period has already led to the flagrant arrest of 5 people and the reporting to the State of freedom for a further 4 people and 2 exit documents. Maximum alert.
