He was returning home on Via di Santa Cornelia, in the Cassia neighborhood of Rome, when he found himself face to face with a wild boar crossing the road. Stefano Violati, 58 years old, was riding his scooter and didn’t have time to dodge the large animal that suddenly appeared. The impact was fatal: Violati was on board a Honda SH 300 and was transported in serious condition to S. Andrea hospital, where in the following hours he died due to the serious injuries he sustained. The animal also died in the impact. Investigations are still underway to reconstruct the exact dynamics of what happened.

Who was

Son of Fabrizio Violati, owner of the Ferrarelle and Sangemini waters until 1987, Violati was 50 meters from home when he had the fatal encounter with the wild boar. “He was thrown 40 meters – his friends say in shock – You can’t die like this, it’s absurd.” He was rushed to S.Andrea hospital, but there was nothing that could be done for him. Stefano was the cousin of Giulio Violati, Maria Grazia Cucinotta’s husband, and had a company that managed the family’s vintage cars. He leaves behind a wife and a son, Matteo.

The mother’s post

His mother Franca shared a post on her Facebook profile: «Goodbye infinite love, we no longer know what to do without you. You were a great man with a good heart. Only those who truly loved you knew your soul. Your friends are desperate along with all of us.”

The stalking complaint

Violati recently ended up on trial for stalking. He had been banned from approaching his ex-partner after a complaint lodged by the woman with whom he had had a two-year relationship. “Infamous accusations” according to his family members who mourn his death today.
