G7, police van catches fire: it was headed to the summit

A state police vehicle caught fire this afternoon while traveling along state road 379, near Villanova di Ostuni in the Brindisi area. None of the officers on board were injured: they are personnel from the Turin police station who arrived in Puglia for the G7 which will be held in Fasano from 13 June. The causes of the fire remain to be ascertained and it was put out by a team of firefighters from the Ostuni detachment who made the entire area safe.

Another incident, again today, involved law enforcement personnel on their way to the G7. Two financiers were injured in a road accident that occurred just outside Canosa di Puglia, in the north of Bari, this morning. According to what we learn, the company car in which they were traveling was part of a group of vehicles which, in all likelihood, was headed to the Brindisi area in view of the next G7. The financier who was driving apparently lost control of the car at the level crossing in Via Cerignola: he and his colleague were injured in the impact. Rescued by the staff of 118 and the Misericordia and the Oer emergency radio operators, they were transported to the Bonomo hospital in Andria for checks: their conditions were not serious. Local police officers from Canosa intervened on site to carry out surveys and traffic.
