With this double success, the Italian medals at the European Athletics Championships in Rome rise to 12 in total.
«I was extremely excited to race here in Rome, I’m very happy. Reconfirming the gold was tough, both due to the climate and the nervousness, I had a slight discomfort in my side but I’m happy to have brought it home and now we move on. Convinced of your choice of path? Yes, now I hope to talk about a great performance at the Olympics too and to do a marathon which could be within my reach”, said Crippa.
To complete the Italian celebration there is also the silver of Pietro Riva who underlines how this is «the best moment of my career, I was beaten by a great friend and I am happy that he was the one who won. I didn’t expect second place, I knew that I’m better on the road than on the track, during the race I felt great and in the end I told myself to go and get the medal. When you have Stefano Baldini as your guide something comes out”, concludes the Italian.
