Tourists steal and set fire to a hotelier’s scooter: reported in Ponza

They steal a hotelier’s scooter in Ponza and set it on fire. The protagonists of what happened yesterday morning on the main island of the Pontine archipelago were three young tourists immediately identified by the police. They are two boys aged 23 and 20 years old residing in Marsicovetere, in the province of Potenza, and a 19 year old of Brazilian origins but who lives in Mariglianella, in the province of Naples.

From the first investigations carried out by the Carabinieri of the Ponza station at dawn yesterday, Saturday 8 June, the three young tourists stole the scooter of a 61-year-old hotelier who was regularly parked on the street and then set it on fire in a place near the one where the theft had been committed.

The fire was promptly put out by civil protection personnel who intervened immediately, preventing the flames from spreading to the hill above. The same volunteers then reported to the police that they had noticed the three young people walking away at a point not far from where the fire had occurred.

The boys were intercepted by the military about 200 meters from where everything happened; identified, they were then reported for the theft and the fire.
