Lorenzo Simonelli gold in the 110m hurdles
Lorenzo Simonelli, a 22-year-old Roman, won the 110 hurdles race at the European Athletics Championships in Rome, running in 13″05, the second best time of the year. Simonelli’s time of 13«05 is also the new Italian record. Second place in the 110 hs race went to the Spaniard Llopis, who took silver, while the Swiss Joseph took bronze.
Leonardo Fabbri gold in the shot put with 22.45
Third gold and seventh medal for Italy at the European Athletics Championships in Rome. Leonardo Fabbri won his race in the shot put, with a time of 22.45. Silver for the Croatian Mihaljevic and bronze for the Polish Haratyk.
Gerevini sixth improves 25 year old record
The Italian Sveva Gerevini, a 28-year-old from Cremona, finished in sixth place in the heptathlon of the European Athletics Championships in Rome, won by the Belgian Thiam. But her performance is still worth highlighting because with the total of 6379 points she improved a 25 year old Italian record, that of 6185 points that Gertrud Bacher had set in May 1999 in Desenzano del Garda.

«It was the best race of my life, but with some small technical errors caused by the heat of the competition. We can do much better, with time and by working well these aspects will arrive. Today was a great test, we must continue on this path.” Mattia Furlani, silver in the long jump at the European Athletics Championships underway in Rome, said this on Rai microphones. «I am proud of all those who followed me – added Furlani -. Marcell Jacobs and Chituru Ali easily qualify for the 100 meters final of the European Athletics Championships in Rome. The 29-year-old Olympic distance champion wins the third semi-final in 10.05, while the 25-year-old from Como wins the second in 10.11.
Mattia Furlani silver in the long jump
The Italian Mattia Furlani won the silver medal in the long jump competition at the European Championships in Rome, with a measurement of 8.38. Gold goes to the Olympic champion, the Greek Miltiades Tentoglu, with 8.65. Bronze goes to the Swiss Simon Ehammer (8.31).
