Elena Verticchio won the National Women’s Championship Medal/Isa Goldschmid Trophy

Elena Verticchio offered a brilliant performance and won with 279 (69 71 70 69, -5) shots, after a run by the head, the National Women’s Championship Medal/Isa Goldschmid Trophy, dedicated to a great player who, together with her brother Franco Bevione brought a lot of prestige to Italian golf.

On the course of the Circolo del Golf Roma Acquasanta (par 71), where 82 competitors took to the starting tee, Verticchio, a 24-year-old representative of the Olgiata Golf Club, started the match in command with a two-stroke margin and then held on to distance the opponents until the advantage was extended to the final four on Giulietta Bertero, second with 283 (-1), the other competitor who achieved a score under par. In third place with 287 (+3) Guia Vittoria Acutis, in fourth with 288 (+4) Gemma Simeoni and in fifth with 290 (+6) Ginevra Coppa. Immediately behind Matilde Zocchi with 291 (+7), Noa Zocco with 292 (+8) and in eighth position with 293 (+9) Carolina Caminoli, Anita Marrone and Ludovica Mesirca.

The winner was the only one to stay within or under par in all four rounds. He started and finished with a score of 69 (-2). With the first you began to build success and with the other, the second score of the day, you consolidated it. In the fourth round, Matilde Andreozzi also went under 70, who with a 68 (-3), the lowest score of the round, rose from 36th to 21st place with 299 (+15), and Chiara Cornetti, also with a run of 69 (-2), which took her from 31st to 17th with 297 (+13).

The event, born in 1977, has a roll of honor in which many top players appear, many of whom later turned professional, including Federica Dassù, Silvia Cavalleri, Stefania Croce, Sophie Sandolo, Federica Piovano and two who are currently trying to make their way on the US circuits, Roberta Liti and Benedetta Moresco.
