Three gold medals come from climbing

The haul won by climbers from Ravenna and Faenza at the Italian climbing championships held in Bressanone (Speed ​​and Boulder categories) and Brunico (Lead) was three gold medals. The three first places were won by Ernesto Placci of Carchidio Strocchi Faenza and Sara Strocchi (photo) of Istrice Ravenna. Placci, in the Under 20 men’s category, dominates the Lead race with ease and naturalness, in one of the most evocative Italian indoor facilities, against opponents of even higher rank on paper. Thanks to an excellent fourth place also in Boulder, he also won the combined medal for the two specialties. In Bressanone Sara Strocchi (Under 18) put together an impressive series of perfect climbs up to the final, against her teammate Eva Mengoli, in which she also achieved her new personal best of 7.50. Her podium was therefore Byzantine for two thirds with Sara gold medal and Eva silver medal. Other splendid medals for the Ravenna contingent came from Marco Rontini and Ludovico Borghi, second and third respectively in the Under 20 men’s Speed ​​category, and Giulia Asirelli second in the Under 20 women’s Speed ​​category. Ludovico Ravaglia is fifth in the Under 16 men’s Speed, Alice Strocchi fifth in the Under 20 women’s Speed, Caterina Pazzaglia fourth in Lead and fifth in Boulder (Under 18 women) with a combined score that places her in fifth place. In the ranking reserved for companies, Istrice placed fourth overall out of 80 participating companies.
