The Director of the Neapolitan Massimo will illustrate the developments of the laboratories, installed by San Carlo, in the area of the industrial port of Vigliena, in San Giovanni a Teduccio, and born from the conversion of a former Cirio factory.
The project is the result of the 2007 agreement between the Port Authority, the State Property Office, the Municipality of Naples and the Campania Region, which assigned the management of the factory to the San Carlo Theater to allocate a more suitable place to accommodate the scenic production workshops and the public. Today the Officine are a multidisciplinary creative training hub, which brings together arts professionals and the communities of the territories on which the initiative insists.
Traditional and digital arts workshops, open visits to the carpentry and scenographic workshops of the factory, debates on the themes of cultural and social innovation, cultural anthropology conversations open to the community. But also paths dedicated to urban regeneration: thematic workshops on industrial architecture, urban regeneration, design and eco-sustainability in the architectural field in general.
The Superintendent of the San Carlo Theatre, Stéphane Lissner, explains: “Officine San Carlo is a factory that focuses on talent and creativity as factors of the community’s peculiar and distinctive circular economy, with which the project has been in dialogue since its inception. The multidisciplinary and multidimensional network that is being created is the bearer of new opportunities and concrete results, much higher than expectations and planned objectives. I thank President Tavassi who with GLS contributes to the activities of San Carlo and Officine, a model of innovative synthesis between training and production”. “I am pleased to participate in this convivial of the Rotary Club of Naples North, always sharing its values such as Integrity, Diversity, Friendship, Service. – explains Emmanuela Spedaliere – They are the same ones who animate our projects oriented towards a social and inclusive mission. The workshops are now recognized by the citizens as a space of social sustainability, born in a complex suburb, that of San Giovanni and the surrounding areas, where San Carlo has turned on a light, thanks to art and creativity”.
“Fostering a sense of community and responsibility, and developing opportunities for young people has been the mission of my Rotary presidency program – adds Tavassi -. The initiative of the San Carlo Theater in East Naples is one of the transformative ones, capable of forever changing the face of a territory, and of the entire city”.
