Following a landslide, the small town of Degagna remained isolated from the outside world, as reported by the «GardaPost» news portal. About thirty people were completely trapped, including six families on a campsite.
Around 70 firefighters responded to rescue the trapped holidaymakers and residents. A special unit was also called in to clear the access roads to the village of 500 inhabitants with heavy equipment.
Flooded houses, impassable roads
According to the Fire Brigade, landslides occurred in the municipalities of Salò and Vobarno. Here a river was blocked and broke its banks, flooding the center of the town.
According to local media, cars, houses and shops were flooded across the region. Many roads had become impassable due to mud, and in some communities there was no electricity.
The rescue teams worked tirelessly and managed to successfully complete all operations in the region during the night. There is still no information on missing or injured people.
