Yesterday afternoon, Wednesday 5 June 2024, a significant ceremony for the Mugello community took place at the Motor Sim headquarters in Borgo San Lorenzo. Six bank drafts, each worth 700 euros, were delivered to six companies in Mugello affected by the floods of last November. This solidarity initiative was made possible thanks to the fundraising activated by CNA Toscana following the terrible storm that devastated the region between 2 and 3 November 2023.

The ceremony was attended by Massimo Capecchi, president of CNA Mugello, Paolo Omoboni, Mayor of Borgo San Lorenzo, and Giampiero Mongatti, Mayor of Barberino di Mugello. During the event, Capecchi underlined the importance of immediate support for businesses in difficulty: “In a moment of great uncertainty, it is essential that businesses receive concrete and timely support to be able to recover and continue their business. Even though the contribution is symbolically, this initiative demonstrates the strength of our associative system and the solidarity between artisans. Remember that, throughout the Metrocity, CNA has distributed a total of 36,668 euros for businesses also in the Piana Fiorentina and the Empolese Valdelsa”.

CNA continues to request adequate funds not only for territorial security, but also to support companies that are facing the loss of turnover and customers, accumulating debts that the country system must help to support, including banks.

State aid, recently released, should arrive shortly. However, a climate of uncertainty persists regarding the appointment of the reconstruction commissioner, a crucial figure for coordinating interventions on damaged infrastructure and compensation. From Rome they assure that the stalemate is about to end.

As regards regional aid, we are proceeding with the distribution of that intended for families, with 13 requests accepted for contribution in Mugello for a total of 34,128 euros. At a regional level, however, there are still 6,580 applications waiting to be integrated. Regarding businesses, as of January 25, 2,612 had submitted applications in Tuscany, but little information is still available on those admitted to regional contributions.
