Roland Garros, Paolini on the field and the golden double: the complete program

The second week of tennis at Roland Garros 2024 officially begins. Today our Jasmine Paolini and the doubles team composed of Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori are on the court. Here is the complete program.

The Azzurri on the pitch

Paolini will kick off the Suzanne Lenglen starting from 11 am against the Russian Elina Avanesyan. The Italian will certainly start as the underdog, but Avanesyan should not be underestimated. The young woman, in fact, is in the second consecutive year in the second week of the Parisian slam and, while last year she could have been a surprise, this year she must certainly be taken into consideration. This is the first direct clash between the two.

The second match on court7 will see our Bolelli and Vavassori involved. The two Italians, already finalists at the Australian Open and eliminated in the semi-finals at the Internazionali d’Italia, will face the pair of Max Purcell and Jordan Thompson. Given the surface and the greater experience, our two standard bearers (seeded number 11 in the competition) will certainly start as the underdogs for a final victory.

The others

In addition to Paolini’s, seven other singles are on the programme (divided between Philippe Chatrier and Suzanne Lenglen). The central court program will be inaugurated by the super challenge between Elina Svitolina and Elena Rybakina. Afterwards, the surprise Emma Navarro will try to put a spanner in the works of one of the favorites to win the final, Aryna Sabalenka.

Not before 4pm, Novak Djokovic is called to respond to Jannik Sinner’s victory last night. The Serbian will face Francisco Cerundolo for a place in the quarterfinals. Not before 8.15pm, however, will it be the turn of the fascinating challenge between Alexander Zverev and Holger Rune.

As previously mentioned, the Suzanne Lenglen will be opened by Paolini. Immediately afterwards it will be Daniil Medvedev’s turn, who will face the Australian Alex de Minaur.

The women return next, with the match between Varvara Gracheva and Mirra Andreeva (two of the surprises of the women’s draw). The program ends with Norwegian Casper Ruud (looking for the third final in his career) and Taylor Fritz.
