The Cormòns Producers Cellar was awarded at Ribolla Gialla Wine Festival, the event entirely dedicated to the symbolic wine of Friuli Venezia Giulia, which this year was enriched by the competition for the selection of the best Ribolla Gialla in the region “Calici di Ribolla”, organized by the Municipality of San Vito al Tagliamento in collaboration with Assoenologi Fvg and Unidoc Fvg. The Ribolla Gialla Doc Collio 2023 from Cantina Cormòns was chosen as the winning wine in the category “Dry and still Ribolla Gialla wines for white vinification”, with a score of 87/100, standing out for its typical characteristics of the territory.

«An important recognition that enhances our work and one of the oldest Friulian vines, which has always been cultivated on the Collio hills», stated the satisfied president Filippo Bregant during the awards ceremony, which took place yesterday (Saturday 1st June) in ‘Ancient Arrigoni Theater of San Vito al Tagliamento (in the picture). Also present was the general director Alessandro Dal Zovo, who underlined the characteristics of this native quality wine: «A DOC Collio product characterized by its marked acidity and its mineral notes, a wine with a fine and elegant aroma, delicious and savory to the taste, which the winery produces as local wine excellence”.

During the weekend, it will be possible to taste the award-winning wine in the Ribolla Gialla Wine Festival wine shop in Piazza del Popolo. In recent weeks, two prestigious international awards had also reached the Producers Cellar: the Gold Medal for Malvasia Doc Friuli 2023, won at the International Malvasia competition in Porec, in Croatian Istria, and the Silver Medal for Sauvignon Doc Collio 2023, awarded by the “Brussels World Competition”.

Still regarding the wine sector, yesterday the Collio Award now in its 17th edition. An award established by the Consortium for the protection of Collio wines which this year it celebrates 60 years, in collaboration with the University of Udine, the Mib Trieste School of Management and the Arga Friuli Venezia Giulia. For the “best three-year or master’s degree thesis” section, there are two winners ex aequo: Eveljn Riturante with a master’s thesis on “The marketing of the experience in wine tourism – Educational tourist harvesting in Friuli Venezia Giulia” for the course in Management of tourism and cultural events at the Friulian university.

Antonella Fontanel, however, was awarded for her three-year thesis “Selection of oenological yeasts for low energy impact fermentations” for the degree course in Viticulture and Oenology, also at the University of Udine. For the “best Italian informative journalistic article” section, however, Davide Bortone wins with his “Viva il Collio (Bianco) as long as we don’t talk about it”. In the “best foreign popular journalistic article” section, Michael Godel wins with “Another fine Collio Experience”, published in Canada.
