Shortly before Giorgia Meloni arrived in Piazza del Popolo for the final rally of the electoral campaign for the European elections, a blonde woman with dark glasses arrived on the running board and set the square alight: «Giorgia, Giorgia», the chorus of the faithful began they started waving, convinced that the awaited moment had arrived. And Giorgia really seemed to most people. On the other hand, a few minutes earlier one of the many candidates for the local elections which are held together with the European consultations had emotionally announced to the square: “I see here behind the scenes that Giorgia has arrived…”. However, it wasn’t Meloni, but her stand-in, who from a distance actually looks like her.
Everyone in the square mistook her for Giorgia, but she retreats: «Doppelganger? I wouldn’t allow myself”
Her name is Teresa Castellani, she is a girl who graduated a few years ago from Luiss and who now works on the staff of the coordinator of Fratelli di Italia, Giovanni Donzelli. Before starting, the technicians who were preparing the audio and stage for Meloni’s rally wanted to use Teresa as a stand-in to understand if the lectern was at the right height and if the microphones were at an adequate distance. Taken by the role assigned to her, Teresa corrected the choices made up to that point by the technicians, also giving instructions with a decisive attitude so that everything worked as best as it did. She was so engrossed in the mission that she did not notice that she had been mistaken by the militants for the guest of honor of the day. When she was told this, she burst into laughter, shielding herself from the journalists who were looking for her: «Me look-alike? But no, I would never allow myself…”.
