To celebrate the Republic Daywhich falls this year Sunday 2 June 2024, i museums and state archaeological parks are open for free. This year, the date coincides with Sunday at the Museum, the MiC initiative which allows free entry, every first Sunday of the month, to places of culture. In the last one Sunday at the Museum of May 5th, therecorded turnout was 382,775 people.
Always Sunday 2 June 2024 is scheduled Palaces Revealed, with many institutional buildings and places of culture extraordinarily open in Genoa. Below i museums and places of culture open in Genoa and Liguria for Sunday at the Museum in June 2024 (some of the locations involved can only be visited by reservation, so it is best to consult the websites of the individual locations):
- Villa Rosa, Altarese Museum of Glass Art (Altar, Savona);
- Fort San Giovanni (Finale Ligure, Savona);
- Museum Royal Palace of Genoa, via Balbi 10 – 16126 Genoa. Opening hours 1.30pm-7pm (last entry 6.30pm). Reservation is not required. At the same time the restaurant is open for free show The Moonstone. The marble of Luni and the Roman Empirestaged in the Teatro del Falcone;
- National Galleries of Palazzo Spinolapiazza di Pellicceria 1 in Genoa, from 1.30pm to 7pm (last entry at 6.30pm; for info: e-mail or 010 2705300);
- Prehistoric Museum of “Balzi Rossi” and archaeological areavia Balzi Rossi – 18039 Ventimiglia (Imperia);

“The state museums and archaeological parks will be open for free on June 2. This is a choice we want celebrate the Republic and the values of national cohesion putting our cultural heritage, one of Italy’s distinctive characteristics, at the center. I strongly wanted to open our museum sites for free on days with a high symbolic value such as 25 April, 2 June and 4 November 2024. It wasn’t like this before. And, according to the turnout data recorded in these days, the initiative was appreciated”. The Minister of Culture said it, Gennaro Sangiuliano.
