SICILY – Dear beaches 2024: the summer season is imminent and it’s time to deal with prices. The national observatory Consumer Federationin collaboration with the Isscon Foundation, has completed the usual monitoring of the costs charged for i beach services in the 2024 seasonnoting increases by an average of 5.2% compared to 2023.
Dear beaches: prices are rising in Sicily but it remains the cheapest region
Once again, Sicily confirms itself as one economic region regarding beach services. Prices are in increase compared to last year but still significantly below the Italian average.
This is what emerges from the Federconsumatori data on 2024 summer holiday prices in Lazio, Tuscany, Liguria, Sicily, Sardinia, Campania, Calabria, Basilicata, Puglia, Abruzzo, Marche, Emilia-Romagna and Veneto.
In our Region the prices were recorded on the beaches of Catania, Palermo And Trapani.
The statement from the president of Federconsumatori Sicilia
In 2024, in fact, Sicilian prices are also much lower than the Italian average. I’m even there half in some cases, like the annual subscriptions in beach establishments, but they are higher prices than those recorded by Federconsumatori last year.
The president of Federconsumatori Sicilia Alfio La Rosa declares: “Already last year we were worried about rising prices. This year we can only be even more worried”.
Last year Federconsumatori Sicilia had asked for close attention to the issue of mapping of the Sicilian coasts in order to establish the number and extent of the concessions to be put up for tender.
What emerges from the data: the average prices of subscriptions
The average price for a subscription daily in a beach establishment in Sicily is of 25.80 euros against 23 euros in 2023. The national average price this year is 33.69 euros. For those who prefer a seasonal subscription the average price on the island is equal to 1027.33 euroscompared to the national average of 2,088 euros.
The most province economical And Palermowith an average price for a season pass of 986 EUR. The costs are slightly higher Catania and Trapanirespectively 998 and 1098 euros.
This year all the concessions already in place last year have been extended to 31 December and are pending at the regional Maritime State Property Office over 6 thousand requests of new concessions for tourist facilities on the beaches.
“We fear greatly which as a counterpart to the paid beachwhich costs more and more, there are fewer and fewer free beaches for Sicilian families. Would be very serious – concludes President La Rosa – because it is true that Sicily is a region with a very strong tourist vocationbut it is also true that it is inhabited by 5 million Sicilians who have the right to go to the seaside without spending a fortune”.
