Election message

Taking inspiration from very current events such as the drought emergency in central northern Sardinia or the protest by citizens and associations in Cagliari against mega wind and photovoltaic plants, the naturalist Roberto Barbieri (candidate as councilor in the Lista Città Viva) coordinated a well-attended meeting from title: The challenge for good environmental governance, between climate change, sustainable development and transition towards renewable energy.
The meeting, held in the Città Viva headquarters, dealt with complex issues of certain local and general interest. Problems that we tried to address with a rigorous technical-scientific approach. But despite the great delay, the Sardinia Region has not yet equipped itself with a strategic plan for the transition to renewables and does not even have an effective plan for mitigating the effects of climate change in place. Furthermore, it is not always possible to find the right balance between the protection of our immense naturalistic/archaeological heritage and the needs of eco-sustainable valorisation. Contradictions can also be seen in the management of Sardinian protected areas, including the Porto Conte Regional Park. The first of several thematic meetings on the calendar, Città Viva intends to meet and listen to the ideas and concerns of Alghero citizens on topics of strong general interest.
And there were many questions or requests for further information. In particular, how to implement local energy communities or what criteria could be followed for a low-impact offshore wind farm on marine ecosystems.
It was also proposed to implement a summary of the evening and send the Region some constructive proposals on the topics covered.
