Yesterday, Saturday morning, May 25th, a meeting of high theological and cultural value dedicated to Santa Rosalia took place at the mother church of Santo Stefano Quisquina. The event was organized by the Rotary Club Bivona Montagna delle Rose Magazzolo as part of the celebrations “Per annum Rosaliae – IV centenary of the Quisquina 1624 – 2024”. The meeting, conducted by the president of Rotary Eduardo Cammaroto, opened with greetings from the archpriest of Santo Stefano Quisquina Don Giuseppe Alotto and the mayors of the three “Rosalian” cities: Dr. Francesco Fragale (general secretary of the metropolitan city of Palermo ) representing the mayor of Palermo Roberto Lagalla, Milko Cinà mayor of Bivona and Francesco Cacciatore mayor of Santo Stefano Quisquina.
The heart of the meeting was the speech by Don Mario Torcivia, Ordinary of Spiritual Theology at the S. Paolo Theological Study in Catania, on the theme “Saint Rosalia the hermit”. Don Mario, with great detail and continuous and precise citations of historical sources, led the large and attentive audience present on a fascinating journey through time, the cult and the history of Santa Rosalia.
