Marcello Razzini wins the Taro International Rally ➥ RS rallyslalom…and beyond

His Skoda Fabia Rally2 won the thirtieth edition of the race.

It is the Parmesan Marcello Razzini, the winner of the thirtieth edition of the International Taro Rally. The competition, organized by Scuderia San Michele and valid as the second round of the International Rally Cup, involved the province of Parma, offering motorsport enthusiasts a weekend of great content.

A victory built on the kilometers of the second special test, that of the Collecchio Corse driver, gained by leveraging the good feeling with the automatic systems of the Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo made available by By Bianchi Rally Team and shared with Gabriele Zanni.

Antonio Rusce took center stage over the kilometers of the inaugural special stage, the “Montevacà” on Saturday evening. The driver from Reggio Emilia left the first day of competition leading the provisional classification, on the Skoda Fabia RS which had the expert co-driver Sauro Farnocchia on his right seat. A confrontation full of twists and turns, the one proposed by the Trentennale: betrayed by a mechanical failure on his Skoda Fabia Rally2, Bostjan Avbelj was forced to retire during the kilometers of the second special test, the “Folta” at the start on Sunday. The Slovenian, winner of the 2023 edition of the race and reigning International Rally Cup champion, had arrived at the start of the timed section with a fifteen second delay from the top, linked to the incorrect choice of tires implemented on Saturday, not congenial to the background conditions.

The alternation of weather conditions further raised the technical level of the competition, offering enthusiasts a tight fight for podium positions. The finish, set in Bedonia, saw Marcello Razzini prevail, with his first victory on the special stages of Val di Taro, while the situation relating to the two remaining podium positions, second and third, remained uncertain until the last kilometre. The first lap of special tests on Sunday had proposed the Volkswagen Polo Rally2 of Fabio Federici as the third force: the driver from Bedonia, supported by Erika Badinelli, then finished fourth overall preceded by Antonio Rusce, second, and by Gianluca Tosi, who climbed onto the third step of the podium with the Skoda Fabia Rally2. A heated comparison between the two from Reggio Emilia, regulated by just four tenths of a margin at the conclusion of the last test, with Rusce slowed down by a non-optimal setup condition. Closing the top-five was Filippo Bravi, flanked by Enrico Bertoldi in the Hyundai i20 Rally2.

In sixth position overall were Jacopo Facco and Nicola Doria, with the driver from Padua winning among the Under 25s and growing in feeling with the Skoda Fabia Rally2. Paolo Oriella and Sandra Tommasini, on Skoda Fabia Rally2, finished seventh, making a comeback after having suffered an incorrect tire choice on the opening stage of the race. The Skoda Fabia Rally2 of Christian Tiramani and Fabio Grimaldi settled in eighth place, with the driver climbing to the second step of the Under 25 podium. The overall ranking, the one reserved for the top ten positions, was archived with ninth place for Roberto Cresci and Fabio Ciabatti, on Skoda Fabia Rally2 and the tenth went to Riccardo Gatti and Moreno Toni, with the driver making his debut on Skoda Fabia RS and returning to competitive racing one year after his last commitment, the 2023 Taro International Rally In the two-wheel drive comparison, the Peugeot 106 Maxi of reigning Italian rally champion Andrea Crugnola prevailed, assisted by Andrea Sassi and thirteenth overall at the finish.

The 30th International Taro Rally, in addition to involving Bedonia as the starting and finishing point, involved Albareto and Borgo Val di Taro, home to the service park. The ninety-eight competitive kilometers proposed by Scuderia San Michele were distributed on Folta, Tornolo and Montevacà, the scheduled special tests.
