Last night, Saturday 25 May 2024, this 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, which began last 14 May, also officially ended. Led by director Greta Gerwig, the jury composed of Turkish screenwriter and photographer Ebru Ceylan, French actress Eva Green, Lebanese director and screenwriter Nadine Labaki, American actress Lily Gladstone, Spanish director, producer and screenwriter Juan Antonio Bayona, the Japanese director Kore-Eda Hirokazu, the French actor and producer Omar Sy and the Italian actor Pierfrancesco Favino, thus awarded the films in competition.

The Palme d’Or went to “Anora” by Sean Baker; Grand Prix to “All We Imagine as Light” by Payal Kapadia; Jury Prize to “Emilia Perez” by Jacques Audiard; Best Director Award to Miguel Gomes for “Grand Tour”; Special Screenplay Award to “The Seed of the Sacred Fig” by Mohammad Rasoulof; Best Actor Jesse Plemons for “Kinds of Kindness” by Yorgos Lanthimos; Best Screenplay for “The Substance” by Coralie Fargeat; Camera d’Or to “Armand” by Halfdan Ullmann Tondel; Palme d’Or for best short film goes to “The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent” by Nebojsa Slijepcevic. The award for Best Actress, however, was awarded to four actresses who won it jointly. Among them, in addition to Zoe Saldana, Adriana Paz and Karla Sofia Gascon, there is also Selena Gomez for the film “Emilia Perez” by Jacques Audiard.

During the evening, however, there was also space for the awarding of another important award, namely the honorary Palme d’Or given to the director and screenwriter George Lucas, creator, among his many successful works, of the sagas of “Star Wars” and “Indiana Jones”.
