In the Agora of the “Alessandro Volta” Higher Education Institute in Pescara, the gymnast Sara Torzi wins the first edition of the MOS Association scholarship award, acronym for Matteo Ovidio Serra, 18 years old, footballer who played in Serie D with Pineto deceased after a road accident in 2021.

The scholarship was offered by the Serra family and was allocated to the student who stood out and was most deserving in the 2022/23 school year.

The beneficiary of the award was Sara Torzi, who graduated last year with 100 cum laude: Sara had entered sports high school as a rhythmic gymnastics athlete with a past as a skater. She currently continues her scholastic successes by attending the faculty of Sociology and Criminology in Chieti.

The head teacher, Maria Pia Lentinio, did the honors, followed by speeches from Matteo’s parents Liliana Georgescu and Giuseppe Serra, the secretary of the MOS, Adriana Castiglia and the representatives of football clubs: for Pescara Calcio the head of Communication Massimo Mucciante and midfielder Matteo Dagasso, for Pineto the marketing and communication manager Federica Rogato with Riccardo Della Quercia, defender and flag of the biancazzurri with over 200 appearances, the coach of Teramo Calcio Marco Pomante with the athletic trainer Francesco Petrarca.

“Commitment and generosity – began the school director in her greetings to the audience -: two characteristics that I found in the Serra family, in Mrs. Liliana, in Mr. Giuseppe and in the MOS association when they proposed to us the initiative of handing over the scholarship of study. I welcomed the initiative with great sensitivity, sense of duty and honor and with my collaborators we set in motion to start the organizational machine and I thank you for the trust that the family has placed in us, in addition to the opportunity and the nice gesture towards not only the student recipient of the scholarship, but also towards all students and for believing in the educational institution and in the valorisation of excellence”.

After the speech, the Serra family intervened, explaining, among other things, the project of the MOS association, namely the construction of a sports center where recreational, cultural and sporting activities open to all can be carried out.

Followed by the debate with the guests on “School and sport: educational and training workshops” with interventions and important reflections on the topics dear to sports students and guests who participated with enthusiasm, interest and availability.

Last but not least, the scholarship award ceremony to Sara Torsi which will be the first of a long series.
