5 dead and 56 injured

The governor Samuel García, present on site, coordinated the rescue efforts. “There was an accident. A strong wind collapsed a stage during the closing of the electoral campaign here in San Pedro”, she explained in a video published on her social networks. Local authorities have deployed all available resources to assist the injured and support the families of the victims.

Previously, the governor of Nuevo León himself had shared a video on his social channels warning the inhabitants of San Pedro Garza about the heavy rains and thunderstorms.

Máynez, who was unharmed but still hospitalized, wrote on his social media channels: “The members of my team who were injured are already being treated in hospital. I am returning to the scene of the events to assist the victims.” Máynez is running for president for the centre-left party Citizen Movement.
