Liguria, dogs, Viale (Lega): “License needed to prevent attacks”

The problem of aggressive dogs appears more and more frequently in the news and Sonia Viale, deputy group leader of the League in the regional council, presented a specific proposal, brought to the regional council with an amendment to regional law 23/2000 and transformed into the agenda. “As tragically certified by the most recent news events, which now occur more and more frequently, attacks on people and other animals by dogs belonging to certain special breeds – he claims – are increasingly numerous and sometimes have dramatic results. For the welfare of the animals, for the owners themselves and to protect public safety, I believe that the time has come to take measures. My proposal is already being implemented in several municipalities in Italy such as Milan, Verona and Parma, in the Region Lazio and provides for the obligation of a license for all owners of dogs of problematic breeds who require greater attention. with a sense of responsibility and civic education”.

“Ascertained that the breed of the dog does not determine its character and that there are no dangerous breeds, as rightly foreseen at a national level, but that the animal’s behavior is instead linked to other factors, such as the environment in which it grows, the age and that dogs that become aggressive often emerge from violence and illegal fighting, only those who have acquired certain skills will be able to manage them in the best possible way with awareness and responsibility in the interests of the well-being of the animal and of the entire community. An approved measure unanimously and which I hope will lead to a rapid approval of the law, which I am very satisfied with, aimed at protecting the well-being of animals, people and families and also respecting many responsible dog owners – concludes Viale – who do not they can be assimilated to those who care with guilty superficiality”.
