Sarah Toscano, Amici won on Saturday evening and her “teacher” Lorella Cuccarini was moved. «It was decisive, she gave me the right determination to overcome the difficult moments».

«When he told me that I was too “restrained” and that, if I hadn’t changed, he wouldn’t have given me the opportunity to participate in the evening».

«I’m still quite young and I don’t know what I’ll do yet, but I will certainly continue to sing pop on the road from Dua Lipa to Annalisa».
Sarah Toscano is from Vigevano, born in 2006, and joined the cast of the twenty-third edition of Amici in autumn, when she was not yet eighteen. She was born in 2006 in Vigevano, she played tennis in Serie C and, following her passion for singing, she released a single for Universal and also participated in Area Sanremo in 2022, winning the Targa Vittorio De Scalzi. In Maria De Filippi’s talent show, at the beginning she was probably one of the most unprepared. In the end she turned out to be the most receptive student, the one who showed she had learned the fastest. It is no coincidence that on the final evening she clearly won all the televoting challenges until she overtook the dancer Marisol in the final challenge with 53 percent of the votes. But, beyond the accounting, what was convincing was the versatility in her interpretations, from Splendido splendide by Rettore through Ricchi e Poveri by Ma non per tutto la vita up to her own song Sexy Magica. Inexperienced is inexperienced, and at eighteen she fits. However, the margins for growth are all there, also thanks to a vocal flexibility that is only rarely below expectations. It happens a few times now. And maybe that’s why she was the only one who never took advantage of autotune.
But you’re still in high school, what do you plan to do?
«I’ll definitely finish it. In Vigevano there isn’t my type of high school (linguistic – ed.) and so I have to take the bus to go to Abbiategrasso. But without a doubt my parents also want me to finish school.”
And then?
«I will leave room for my definitive passion, which is music».
When she arrived at Amici (where she also won 150 thousand euros) she was disorientated.
«There were many professionals who helped me. I remember how much “staging” advice Isobel (Kinnear, dancer ed.) gave me right up to all the vocal coach lessons. And then, from a purely human point of view, it is important to “learn” to live in a house with twenty other peers.”
Sometimes they were undisciplined.
«I don’t like speaking badly of others. Let’s say we were all at Amici with a passion for music or dance. If ever someone left a plate on the table it was only to go to class.”

Sarah, you are from Generation Zeta and your peers often attack the so-called “boomers”.
«They’re wrong. Most boomers have a lot to teach.”
Will you continue to play tennis?
«What would I do without it? A passion born when I was 4 years old. My dream? Playing with Jannick Sinner. First I sing and then we play.” (laughs – ed.)
Let’s stay in reality. Sarah’s album has been released and among all those of the Amici contestants it is the most listened to.
«So now I’m doing an “instore” throughout Italy, meeting fans and then performing live wherever possible, like at Future Hits Live at the Foro Italico in Rome.
But it’s only the beginning, I’m not leaving here.”
