Three scooters set on fire. Two nights of fire, just a few days apart. A possible arsonist, who would have set fire to three scooters in two nearby streets in the lower Corviale area. The fires which, in addition to charring the vehicles, affected a glass bell and a fence, risking affecting some trees. A situation that worries the inhabitants of the area, who report a “security problem”.

The first fire

The first fire broke out shortly after 1:00 on the night between 13 and 14 May in via Silvio Sbricoli. A scooter, placed against a glass bell and then destroyed by flames, as was the waste disposal bin. The firefighters and then the carabinieri from the Villa Bonelli station intervened on site. With the charred shock still on site, a second fire tonight, in viale Arturo Martini, 600 meters away from via Sbricoli.

The second fire

The request for intervention on 112 arrived this time around 4:00 am on May 17th. At the roundabout with Via Mazzacurati, in a public area, firefighters put out two scooters on fire as the fire damaged a wooden fence. Two scooters positioned next to each other. Once the fire was put out, the Carabinieri from the Bravetta station then intervened to investigate the incident.

A resident’s alarm

Two fires at close range that set off the alarm in a man who has lived in the lower Corviale area for 30 years: “It had never happened in this area – he tells our newspaper – and now twice in a few days. It seems clear to me that there is an arsonist wandering around the area. We are worried about this escalation, there would be a need for greater control of the territory.”
