There music season 2024 of the Polyphonic Choir “City of Tolentino” will feature not only the choir but also many other artists who will offer extremely varied repertoires, from medieval music up to songs by Italian singer-songwriters of today, to end with the traditional Christmas concert.
The season will open with a concert of absolute value, Friday 24 May at 9.15pm, at the Basilica of San Nicola in Tolentinowhere the Form – Marche Philharmonic Orchestra, the well-known pianist Lorenzo di Bella, Cihat Askin on the violin, the Soloists of the Osimo Academy of Lyric Art and obviously the Tolentino Choir, directed by the Maestro Aldo Cicconofri, they will perform under the direction of the Canadian maestro Michel Brousseau.
In the wonderful scenery of Basilica of San Nicolaa repertoire of music will be proposed di F. Schubert, with the execution of “Concerto in D major”. for violin and orchestra and the “Mass on G major Op.167” for choir and orchestra alone and, by LV Beethoven, the “Romance in F major.” again for violin and orchestra and, in conclusion, the “Choral Fantasy in C minor. Op. 80” for Piano, Soloists, Choir and Orchestra.
The experience of the new president of the Polyphonic Choir also begins with this first major event, Rosalia Calcagnini who in presenting the program underlines: “The title of the concert, Spiritual Vienna ‘Peace and Joy’, takes inspiration from the words of the ‘Choral Fantasy’ of a Beethoven particularly inspired by a text written by J. KuffnerGerman musician and composer, praising Peace and Joy of the heart, which can be achieved thanks to art, a universal language of sharing between peoples”..
“In a historical moment like the current one, in the face of all the tensions found in the world, the Polyphonic Choir, together with all the artists who will perform, wants to send a message of Peace, based on sharing and listening, adds Calcagnini -. On this occasion I would like to thank the municipality of Tolentino, in the figure of the mayor Sclavi, who granted the patronage and participated in the entire musical season, as well as the Marche Regional Council who honored us by participating in the event. Furthermore, applause to the Prior of San Nicola, Father Giustino Casciano, with the entire Augustinian Community for their cordial hospitality and availability and to all the generous sponsors, without whom it would not have been possible to offer citizens a concert of this level free of charge, which sees the presence of many internationally renowned artists”.
During the concerto approximately 40 choristers will perform, as well as 38 members of the Marchigiana Philharmonic Orchestra, maestro Lorenzo Di Bella as piano soloist, Cihat Askin solo violin and 8 solo singers from the Osimo Academy of Lyric Art. The concert is organized with the participation of the Marche Regional Council and the patronage and participation of the Municipality of Tolentino.
