Oleis (Ud) – At the starting line Olio e Dintorni, the inauguration will be held on Friday 24 May at 6.20 pm in the park of Villa Maseri in Oleis di Manzano with institutional greetings and followed by the opening of the stands of the extra virgin olive oil producers – a dozen selected companies from the FVG Region with a representation from Tuscany, who participate – from the wine shop with the wines of the Colli orientali del Friuli Venezia Giulia, but also from the kitchens of the Villa with the dishes baked by the hands of the Arc Oleis volunteers and Surroundings led by chef Kevin Gaddi, Ambassador of Taste FVG, who will be present during all days of the event.

At 7pm the historical art and photographic exhibition “Oleis nel tempo” will be inaugurated in which images of yesteryear of the people of Oleis will be exhibited and where we will toast with an aperitif created in collaboration with Elliot Osteria and sleep on the hill. At 7.30pm appointment with “Aperitiv.Olio”, the uninterrupted aperitif with prosecco from Tenute del Leone Alato made special by a secret ingredient waiting to be discovered. Surprises and gadgets for those who guess “the color” of the evening to the music of DJ Roberto Vannella.

At 8pm the “Olivarelli: dinner with the artists”, followed by the extemporaneous exhibition of paintings by “Olivarelli” which will lead to a remarkable musical evening, thanks to Rossi Mania, a tribute band to Vasco, with hundreds of concerts under their belt , originally from our region who holds concerts throughout the Triveneto, characterized by a scratchy lead voice, very similar to the original, and refined sounds, faithful to the best rock of the Komandante (indoor event).

On Saturday 25 May we start to discover the oil as early as 9am with Coltivo(g)lio conducted by Marco Stocco of Ersa with the technicians Ennio Scarbolo and Franco Diacoli: a free course where you can learn the first rudiments on the cultivation and pruning of the olive tree with demonstration in the field, or on the agronomic management of the olive grove, also including a tasting of extra virgin olive oils.
At 12 the kitchens will open where the kids from the Associazione Arte e Libro Soc. Coop will be in action. Soc. Onlus led by chef Kevin Gaddi, and from which will emerge a rich menu suitable for the palates of adults and children with many traditional products and dishes such as cjarsons with ricotta or scuete fumade, but also smoked trout and delicious desserts among which stands out: a delicious Picolit panna cotta with Esse di Raveo biscuits, while at 2 pm, the interactive seminar Discovering extra virgin olive oil will be held with tasting of extra virgin olive oils of various origins which will also include the playful encounter “Discover the intruder, meaning not all oils are the same!” led by prof. Lanfranco Conte, president of the Italian Society for the Study of Fatty Substances which will be followed, at 3pm, by Oliolab, the free mini laboratory which offers an educational journey to discover the sensorial characteristics of extra virgin olive oil conducted again by the expert Lanfranco Conte with the technicians Ennio Scarbolo and Franco Diacoli.
Also at 3pm, the animations and choreographies created by the Dance Area.it dance school of San Giovanni al Natisone will start.

At 3.30 pm the eagerly awaited appointment with “FAI a tour in the vineyard” for “Tazzelenghe: the Lombard Knight and the lost (later rediscovered) rose”: thus the combined FAI a tour in the vineyard and Oleis is renewed with a journey to discover the historic rose garden of the Abbey of Rosazzo (Manzano – Ud), accompanied by the stories of the agronomist Gianpaolo Bragagnini, discovering the “Lost and Rediscovered Rose”, emblem of the place to which it gives the toponym (Rosazzo, precisely). Continuing the walk, after about 500 meters immersed in the olive groves and uncontaminated nature, you will arrive at the “Ronc di Bianca” winery, where together with you, Simone and your family it will be possible to get to know the cellar, the vineyards and the wines that see the light here, in particular Tazzelenghe, the very rare native vine capable of conquering the nose thanks to its ample and delicate bouquet, and the palate thanks to an important robustness. The experience will be completed by the presentation of the book written by Stefano Cosma, journalist from Trieste and transplanted to Gorizia, well-known writer and director of the food and wine magazine “Fuocolento”, of Bubble’s and Èsquisito, but also gastronaut, wine journalist, as indigenous as the vines which he deals with, with Angelo Costacurta, one of the most famous viticulture scholars at an international level: “Tazzelenghe, the tongue-cutting Friulian wine born in Lombard land”. The tasting will be conducted by the expert Wayne Young, a real American but in Friuli for 22 years (thanks to Joe Bastianich). A wine expert with a very particular history: his stay in the region should have lasted the time of a grape harvest, but instead it continued and, after working for various wineries and organizing countless tastings, he finally decided to open a shop in Udine with the truly innovative formula of the “pop-up shop”, with impromptu wines for sale. An eclectic character therefore, who never stops, the latest news is his podcast “La Taverna Friuli” recently also launched on Italian Wine Podcast, one of the largest formats for Italian wines in the world. At the end of the intense experience, all participants will be given a 10% discount voucher valid for the cuisine of Olio e Dintorni. The event, organized by the FAI Group of Cividale del Friuli, is part of the regional FAI project, a tour of the vineyard that combines love for the territory and the culture of sustainability through the proposal of an experience that combines nature, culture and local history in circular manner. Furthermore, this year it is included in the national project of the Environment Fund for Italy called “FAI for Biodiversity” (by reservation: maximum 40 participants, suitable for everyone, duration of approximately two and a half hours with a total route of two kilometers approximately, round trip, – registration fee: €12.00 for FAI members and €15.00 for non-members.

At 4.30 pm the free painting course will open in the park of Villa Maseri Olivarelli Junior, offering brush strokes of watercolors mixed with Evo oil to children and young people aged between five and eleven, curated by the artist Renato Paoluzzi from Oleis. For the little ones, however, at 7pm the appointment is scheduled with Letture…in atelier, narratives for children aged between three and seven accompanied by their parents, organized by the Group of Voluntary Readers of Favoliamo di Premariacco.

And for the more adventurous, meeting at 7.30 pm at Villa Maseri for a guided night tour with mountain or fat bike. It is a route of twenty-seven kilometers with a height difference of three hundred and fifty meters, of medium difficulty. The registration fee also includes a plate of gnocchi and a small drink (reservation required by May 24th – Michele, t. 339 6143668).
For the more stylish, meet at 8.30pm with the Spring Summer fashion show curated by the By Biba’s store in Manola Della Rovere di Manzano.
The evening continues in the name of being together with the music of Radio Company – “Viaggia Insieme a me 90/2000” (indoor event).

On Sunday 26 May the morning already has “oil in its mouth”, at 8am with the recreational motor walk “Ator pai roncs di velis e badie” created in collaboration with FIASP. There are two routes of seven and fourteen kilometers open to all for this walk through the hills, the vineyards that form the enchanting landscapes that surround the towns of Oleis and Rosazzo (registration fee €5.00 including a plate of gnocchi and a drink – Giovanni, t. 346 3904666 – or [email protected]).
The first three groups to reach the finish line first will receive food and wine prizes of local products.
At 9am, the guided cycling tour starts from the park of Villa Maseri (registrations by Friday
May 24: Michele, t. 339 6143668) suitable for everyone and all bicycles for a route that winds for twenty-five kilometers and a maximum difference in altitude of one hundred metres.

From 10am an important technical moment will be held with the conference dedicated to the “Evolution of olive growing in Friuli Venezia Giulia” introduced by the report “The toponym of Oleis and the origins of Friulian olive growing”, edited by the agricultural expert Giovanni Cattaruzzi, author of the publication “Oleis at the origins of a toponym. Between history, myth and religion”. This will be followed by “The expansion of regional olive growing over the last 30 years. Statistics, agronomic and phytosanitary aspects” described by the agricultural expert Ennio Scarbolo with Marco Stocco, agronomist from Ersa. To conclude, the speech “Evolution of the quality parameters of olive production in the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region” held by Dr. Lanfranco Conte of the Italian Society for the Study of Fatty Substances.
At 10am the stands at the agricultural market will also open to promote local products and the territory.

Finally at 12 the long-awaited “Premio Olio dell’Abate-Maseri 2024” with the delivery of the coveted recognition and the work of one of the artists who over the years have participated in the “Olivarelli”, the event dedicated to painting to the producing company of oil selected for the quality of its production but also for the overall management of the company.
This year the companies from the FVG Region sent their champions: All’Antica Scuderia del Castello di Majano (Ud), Comelli Paolino Ssa from Faedis (Ud), Corte Tomasin from Castions di Strada (Ud), Fachin Fernanda from Gemona del Friuli (Ud), Fior Rosso di S. Dorligo della Valle (Ts), Iacuzzi Raffaele di Udine (with olive grove in Prestento di Torreano), Olio Ducale – Cividale del Friuli (Ud), Venturini di Osoppo (Ud). The laboratories with students and teachers of the Paolino d’Aquileia Agricultural Institute in Cividale del Friuli, Ersa, Lanfranco Conte of the Italian Society for the Study of Fatty Substances, and the Cattaruzzi Giovanni technical studio collaborated on the Olio dell’Abbate 2024 award.

After the musical interval at 1pm with the I Furlans band in Manete, at 4pm, you can take part in the walk “Discovering the plants of Villa Maseri” in the company of the agronomist Gianpaolo Bragagnini (open to all with registration recommended at t. 340 5105839), and to Oliolab, the free mini laboratory which includes an educational journey to discover the sensorial characteristics of extra virgin olive oil.
At 4pm, entertainment for children with the magician Mark’s show and immediately afterwards, entertainment by Manuela Castello (children’s make-up, baby dance). Suspense instead for the blind literary appointment at 5pm created in collaboration with the Circolo Culturale Corno di Rosazzo, as the appointment approaches, in fact, the author will be revealed. At 7.30 pm the playful Enoteca: what wine are you? tasting will be held, led by sommeliers to understand some of the wines of our territory up close. Finale in music with the tribute band Sensazioni Modà, from 9pm (indoor event).
